About me.
After spending over 10 years in the financial industry as an actuary, I decided to make a career shift and return to the tech world. While I loved the analytical challenges of helping companies assess their risk, I often felt like something was missing. I found that something when, on a whim, I decided to complete an online web development course. That course re-ignited a spark, and I remembered how much I loved to code. Since then, it has been full steam ahead.
As a web developer, I get excited about solving complex problems and figuring out what makes things tick - whether it's building accessible websites for clients, or simply tinkering away on my own side projects.
No matter what challenges come my way, I am adaptable in both my professional life and personal pursuits. As an island gal, born and raised in Barbados, I love warm weather and going the beach. As you can imagine, I heavily rely on that adaptability skill to make it through the freezing Canadian winters😰. I also enjoy playing video games, reading, dancing and the occasional round of Muay Thai.

Stock Searcher
This app uses IEX Cloud API to allow the user to search for real time financial data and news. I used Google Charts to build an interactive graph of historical stock prices based on user selected timeline. React hooks and firebase are also used to maintain and edit user's watchlist of stocks.

Earthquake Detection Program
This app allowed me to apply core React concepts to a larger application, while working in an agency environment with a group of developers. The app used USGS API to search for earthquakes and plot on an interactive map using Leaflet API.
